History

Racine Community Tennis Association was founded in 2008 by a local group of tennis enthusiasts.

Current Board Members | How to Get Involved

Mission: "To promote, educate, and develop the activity and sport of tennis, and to assist in the development of tennis facilities in Racine County, WI to benefit the community at large.  RCTA is a 501c3 nonprofit.

 

2008:  Racine Community Tennis Association founded

2008: RCTA board members instrumental in RUSD referendum for Case and Horlick court projects.

2009:  Midwest Youth Team Tennis (summer) offered in the City of Racine.

2009:  Tennis Block Party at Lockwood Park each May kicking off the Tennis season in Racine.

2009-2011:  RCTA board members advocated to the City of Racine for resurfacing of Lockwood Park courts (finished with blended lines for Youth Team Tennis) 

2010-2011: Assisted and supported three school tennis in-service days for Racine Unified School.  Almost 60 teachers were trained at 30 different schools. Tennis equipment (nets, rackets, & balls) donated to all schools from a grant from USTA and RCTA.  

2011: Racine Unified School District won the USTA/Midwest School District of the Year award.

2012:  Play Days offered in the city of Racine at various sites.

2012: Racine Unified School District offered Kids Tennis Clubs at 10 school sites

2014:  Start Re-Start Tennis Adult Lessons - RCTA partners with the City of Racine Park and Rec.

2014: (spring): Two NJTL sites were piloted for after school programming in Racine Unified (RCTA partnered with Racine Unified School District on this venture)

2014:  Formal partnerships with the City of Racine and Racine Unified School District established.

2014: This season we registered and trained 164 kids at the Case HS facility!                    
2014-2016: Ranked in the top 5 Community Tennis Associations in the State of Wisconsin.

2017: CTA won the Midwest CTA of the Year Award in addition to starting a HS scholarship fund.       2018: Awarded first $1,000 HS Scholarship to Graduating Senior

2018: RCTA establishes summer camps

2019: Ranked in the top 5 Community Tennis Associations in the State of Wisconsin, second largest program in the state.

RCTA has had over 30 High School volunteers serving in various capacities in our tennis programming. We have paid out over $5,000 to those students for their service in addition to providing letters of recommendations for their community service for college entrance. In the past few years, we have had over 20 students from our program play either JV or Varsity tennis at various schools in the area.
